The person sending the email took the cowardly way out. Never mind the fact that this had been in process longer than a couple of days or weeks. While I realize the decision was not solely HERS, she, nevertheless is also culpable. (And, no, I'm not shooting the messenger!)
Being part of the school is anything but inexpensive. The lessons per year are $600 - $1,000, depending upon the number of children. The costumes, wigs, shoes, socks….let's just say it's HUGE. Parents pay it, though, because their child (ren) love it so much, and it can be a wonderful, healthy experience.
So back to my question……WHAT ABOUT THE CHILDREN??? Was there any thought given to how these little ones will feel when they find out? Where is the respect for the families who have been diligent in doing EVERYTHING the institution requires? What kind of example is set for children when something like this occurs? There is a major feis coming up in a couple of weeks. How do you think they will perform knowing they won't get to do this anymore? I know we all have to deal with disappointments in life…..but I also know that what was once a caring, personal school is merely an organization, business, institution, with little concern for the children who strive to be their best for this business. After all, if the kids are good, the owner looks good, doesn't he? I'm sure there are many parents who will read this, knowing full well which school I am referring to, and disagree. But they also live in an area where there are many site locations. And if their site closed, they'd merely go a few miles to a different one.
And I will reiterate that there are far worse things in life to deal with. Situations like this could be avoided, tho, if they were handled differently and if the powers that be treated their families with dignity and respect!
