On the return trip I was walking into the brisk wind....a challenge of a sorts. And as I struggled against the wind I began thinking about how often I have seen homeless people walking with all their belongings.....thru wind, rain, snow....all of nature's elements. And I couldn't help but wonder what it must be like for them day after day, step by step, walking from one shelter to another with the weight of all their belongings on their backs or in a shopping cart. Theirs is a daily struggle to "hold on"....like the leaves on those silver maple trees. And suddenly my struggles paled in comparison. I was able to walk into a warm house with comfort all around me. Tonight, like every other night, I will sleep on a comfortable bed with clean sheets and fluffy covers and my own pillows. I will reconnect with my heart space without distraction. And when I awaken my feet will no longer ache.
Thank you, Lord....I am blessed. Please bless those less fortunate.
