strenuous workout routine(s) I have EVER done in decades of exercising! When I first attended a class, I did not realize it was an intermediate level....until the class was over. Still, I kept up with all the regulars. The class is a continuous hour of movement. After the "warm up" we go into using steps and risers while holding and moving medicine balls weighing anywhere from 4-9# (I use the 6#er). Imagine my "WHAT" (spoken only to myself, of course) when the teacher said "Ok, three laps around the track." Doable. Then back to the room for more "challenges" and suddenly another "Ok, three laps around the track" again. Was I hearing things right? Is she for real? But, hey, I was not about to disobey, good Catholic girl that I am. Back to the classroom for jumping jacks, (while holding the heavy med balls), up and down maneuvers on the steps and risers, jumping rope, using stretch bands, and THEN "Ok, 10 flights of stairs." By now my face is purple. What kind of class is this anyway??? Now you're thinking surely that must be it, right? Nooooooope, back to the workout room for more jumping jacks, etc. And THEN....you must know what I am going to say "Ok, 10 flights of stairs." Has this young instructor forgotten we already did this???? =) I think I managed to do 7 more flights... whatever....I mean is anyone going to report that I was 3 flights shy? Nah. Afterwords we started to cool down.
When the class was over, I felt exhiliarated. Did I hurt? Oh youbetcha. Still, I keep going back. Usually I only do that class twice a week.
I happened to see the instructor today and she was telling me how that Monday med ball mania class is a killer......WHAT??? How affirming to know that even the fittest feel pain.
Now here's the amusing part. So, after the first class I noticed there were several people in the class with ARMY teeshirts on. Hmmmmmmmm, curious. WHY would the ARMY people be doing this class? I mean don't they only do the most strenuous boot camp stuff?
Yes, Rusty, and welcome to reality.
Have a peaceful day........
