Another of these dear friends will soon be experiencing the anniversary of her husband's death. She is a joyful person, exuberant, such fun to be with. But I know her heart aches...and mine aches for her as I remember the days leading up to his death.
The third friend has been struggling with the deterioration of her dad. She has a wonderful husband and daughter who have been there for her. She usually stays overnight at her parents' home, even tho the caregiver is there. For her, she said, these past few months have been pure "gift." She will never forget these treasured moments with him.
As I ponder our conversation(s) the theme of HOPE keeps coming to mind....
hope for the future.....for wellness; for someday being reunited with one's deceased husband; for a peaceful death for a beloved dad; for continuing to live life to the fullest, even in the midst of uncertainty and pain.
I am so grateful for the time spent with these friends...for the treasured memories I will carry with me.
