Our Parish, St James in Arlington Hts IL, held beautiful services during the Triduum. Holy Thursday's liturgy and foot washing was Holy Thursday was a beautiful reminder of the Last Supper, foot washing also. When I tried to explain to our little 4 and 6 yr old grandchildren, they were very puzzled. "Nama, WHY would Jesus wash people's feet?" Then I attempted to explain humility. Hopefully they came away with at least a
l-i-t-t-l-e more understanding....=)
Good Friday (and why do we call it GOOD when it was the day Christ was crucified????)was marked with the stations of the cross at noon. I was privileged to sing for that service, accompanied by a cello and piano. Haunting....somber.
Holy Saturday's beautiful liturgy welcomed the catechumenates into the church.
And, at long last, the Resurrection today. As is usually the custom at Easter, there were hundreds standing because the 1000+ seats were taken. It is a glorious site to see so many believers gathered in one space.
And now the work of the resurrection continues within us. I ask myself "in what way was part of me resurrected this day? how can I continue the work of the resurrection?"
I wish you joy and hope....
