Now Jim and I have been to these presentations before, and, quite honestly I'd rather have a ROOT CANAL! But we went....out to Lombard. There were 5 couples and 3 singles. We had all told them where we wanted to go on our next vacation. (Foolishly) we told them Australia. SO, the presentation began with a very fast talking young man telling us he could get us the vacations of our dreams. When he was finished another man took over.....and he said all the same things (speaking even faster and without taking a breath). Did he think we didn't hear the first guy? Bottom line was they were selling travel.....set up by them, of course. After the presentation we were each assigned to a "travel pusher" and called into another room. And the bottom line came out.....for only $11, 900.00 we could get this great deal, travel pretty much anywhere for only $159.00 per week. In addition there was an "optional" annual fee of $389.00. What a deal! Within a very short period of time the man assigned to us had reduced the cost to $2,800.00. Woo Hoo! Imagine that for a two week trip to Australia. (And just HOW could they afford to lose the difference)?! While we sat with him the guy in charge would jump up, come to the front of the room, clap and announce that "so and so" had just bought a trip to....... And the music would play louder and everyone clapped and cheered. Their names and their destinations were then written on a big board. WOW!
There is NO question in my mind that many of these people were "plants." The questions they asked in the presentation fed right into the presenter's next line. Also, each couple or individual who suddenly "bought" their vacation was placed at a table with a bowl of candy on it.....those of us who were REAL were at plain tables. Also we were not shown a book on the travel sites, but the others were.
In the end we did NOT sign any forms and the "gift" of two free tickets for listening to has so many stipulations and hidden charges that it's just not worth it.
Will we do this again..............................N-E-V-E-R!
The one highlight was that Jim and I had uninterrupted time together during the long trip out there [rush hour ;) ]
