How many of us can relate to the three Kings (and actually, as I learned at Mass this evening, there were many more than three)? I mean think about it. There they are out in the wherever and they see this huge bright Star in the sky. And they KNOW, they FEEL as if they just have to hop on those camels and follow the light. They were TOLD the Savior was coming. And, best of all, they BELIEVED! Is it any wonder the Kings are referred to as the three "Wise Men?"
Can we relate to the three Wise Men? Would we have followed through and taken the long arduous journey (not an easy ride on a camel, I imagine), following a Star? And yet, at the end of our destination, in a cold stable, surrounded by shepherds and animals, in the simplest form... there would lie The Child that fulfilled the prophecy, the Savior for all the world. Surely it would be worth all the difficulties it took to get there….it was for the Kings.
What represents the Star in your life?
What will it take for each of us to follow the Star today….and tomorrow…and the next day…
It won't always be easy, but we can make the journey together….in our hearts….in praying for one another.
