Well, we are fortunate in that my sister in law, Kathleen, worked on a family history for 10 years, then had it printed. Yet, with all the info I have, it doesn't seem I have as much as I would like! For Erin it was fascinating to read the details from waaaaaaaaay back in our family history.
Now creating this tree isn't an easy task. But Erin delighted in doing it. Several of her great great great grandparents go back to arriving in the US via Ellis Island in NY.
She learned about the French connection in my maternal grandmother's background, the Bavarian heritage in my father's family, and, of course the strong Scot/Irish/English heritage throughout my husband's family and my mother's family.
I wish she had been given more time, because we could have gone deeper into the lineage.
As for me, I'm now copying pictures from long long ago for her to add to her tree. It's amazing how many similarities there are in people who are living now.
In reading through all of this I wonder what it would have been like to really know these people, to have lived in their era.
