We can look at these 40 days as a journey in the desert (looking within ourselves - sans distraction).
What is your experience of "desert"? Is it feeling alone in the midst of a crisis? Not knowing where to turn? Who to trust? Is God really there?
My strongest image of desert occurred when our daughter, Meggan, was killed. Never have I felt so alone and abandoned (by God). I was locked in the desert of my grief. It was barren.....and unlike the beautiful picture of "Footprints in the Sand" there were no other footprints....only mine....in the desolation.
As we journey through these 40 days, I will hold you close in my heart. My prayer is that you will experience moments of peace....clarity.....wonder.....and Presence to help you through the desert.
