There is a beautiful song with this title. As i was pondering what to write in tonight's blog the above came to me. It is actually a song ….and a beautiful one.
True love requires an act of selflessness ….the willingness to give oneself completely to the world….no strings attached!! In the days and weeks ahead, may we all choose Love . As human beings we are attached to many things. But we also become"attached" to "people." Such is the case with a wonderful priest who has been at St James for 7 years. He has been the human Christ walking among us, teaching us, understanding us…..He is loved by children and adults because he can relate to each person. Fr. Joji has blessed us with awesome homilies, wisdom, his gentle heart, his compassion, acceptance of people as they are, and so much more. This is a humble man, a quality most people often lack. His humor always gets the congregation to laugh….like when he literally soared in the air at the St James production of Peter Pan (several times).
Selfishly I wish he could stay with us. He won't be too far away, just a few suburbs. But I will miss his "presence." And it's time that others experience his gifts. Father's homily this morning spoke of blind Bartimaeus whose sight was regained when Jesus healed him. Fr. Joji said perhaps it was the crowds who were blind and that Bartimaeus could see ….because Bartimaeus saw with his heart. Like Bartimaeus Fr. Joji sees with his heart…. 13 years ago today the world was blessed with a beautiful little girl, Erin. Hard to believe that 13 years have gone by so quickly. But we have so many wonderful memories of watching you grow, Erin. From a little two year old in Grandpa's arms (telling him she was the boss) to the lovely young woman you are today. Your accomplishments and areas of expertise are many…I mean reeeeeeally a lot!!! You have a gentle, compassionate, loving heart. Those qualities are the most important. Our lives are better because you are here, honey. Always remember that.
We will love you forever and a day…….. |
