As I look back on the many decades of my life, I think of all the saints I've been blessed to know. One, in particular, was my mother ... a wonderful, selfless, loving person. Mommy gave from her heart. There wasn't anyone who crossed her path that didn't experience her love. She used to look up at the night sky, point to a bright star, and tell us that she was from that star, a planet actually. And then she would say "They sent me here to teach others how to love." Indeed, she made loving her life's work, her purpose.
Mommy was a joyful person and she loved her faith and its traditions. She taught us how to love unconditionally, to put others first, to feed the hungry and clothe the poor. She taught us how to GIVE. Now, in now way would Mommy ever call herself 'saintly," but as I reminisce I think she had so many Christ like qualities…..so in my heart she was the first saint I knew.
