Rusty's Bio:
Rusty McDermott has been married to James for 43 years. They have four children and seven grandchildren. Rusty’s youngest child, Meggan, was just beginning life when she was killed by a drunk driver at the tender age of 14. She remains in their hearts forever.
Music has always been an integral part of Rusty’s life. While working for Advocate Health Care, Rusty had the opportunity to record a CD of music used at annual parish nurse symposiums. That music continues to be a source of strength and peace for people around the world. For 27 years, Rusty has also been a dedicated hospital minister to the sick and dying.
Rusty recently retired from her administrative assistant job at Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington, Illinois. She and her husband love spending time and making new memories with their 7 precious grandchildren. Rusty and Jim are avid travelers and now have the ability to travel more frequently.
Rusty hopes to continue her dream of writing a book about her personal transformation since her daughter died 20 years ago. She hopes it will provide support for other bereaved parents.
